Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Cancer has claimed a number of my family and I believe that research has made such a difference in reducing the numbers who die from the condition. Prostate Cancer claimed my Dad nearly 4 years ago now, and two of my brothers have beaten the condition since then. In 2002 my eldest sister lost her battle with ovarian cancer. It's just an awful condition and no one deserves to suffer like she did.
Sometimes in your life you make decisions that are hard to make. All the training toward one goal can stop you from seeing the bigger picture. Also, the motivation to raise money for a tremendous cause drives you to complete the task but it's not just about that. It's about people. The focus on the Race Around Ireland has been massive, but without the support team it was likely to fail. To that end I have made the hard decision not to ride the event in 2014. But all is not lost. I am entered in the 2015 event and with longer time to plan the success of the event, we will do everything we can to achieve our goal. The main goal is to raise the most we can for Cancer Research UK. My family has suffered quite considerably from cancer, most recently my Dad in 2010. The disappointment of not riding this year's event is hard to take, but we are looking forward the 2015 with great confidence. Your continued support is much appreciated. Encourage your friends to support this great cause.
Appropriate I will be cycling on my bicycle, riding the Race Around Ireland, in September 2015, in my Dad's memory as well as all those in my family and others that have suffered from cancer and lost their battle. I will be riding a total distance of over 1,300 miles, virtually non-stop, over a maximum of 5 and a half days. Your support helps me greatly.
Thank you so much.
