Story

Many thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.

Our Challenge is to get from the West side of America to the East side of America, 3000 miles within 7 days, starting June 14 on bikes  The intrepid cyclists are Nick Crosby & Sean Frost, ably supported by 9 crew.  In doing so we aim to raise as much money as we can for Ben & Oliver

Race Across America (RAAM) is one the most respected and longest running endurance sports events in the world. RAAM is seen as a pinnacle of athletic achievement not only in cycling circles but the greater sporting community as well.

Ben and Oliver’s challenge is different, it’s a daily challenge, they both suffer with Cerebral palsy which causes extreme tightness/spasticity in all limbs, it effects speech and makes their every day tasks so much harder.

The money raised will go to Tree of Hope who then fund Intense Physio therapy and the life changing operation called SDR.

SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) The aim of selective dorsal rhizotomy is to ease muscle spasticity and improve mobility in people with cerebral palsy. It involves cutting nerves in the lower spine that are responsible for muscle rigidity.  An operation which costs up to £60,000, one the NHS does not cover.

Ben and Oliver will benefit from any funds that can be raised to help there progression. Both Ben and Oliver are known to the team members and live local to our team. We feel this is a perfect reason to help support them and raise as much as we can to give them the treatment and support they deserve.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity, split 50/50 for Ben & Oliver.  So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
