Story
What does Quetzal do?
Quetzal is a non-profit organisation aiming to support women recovering from childhood sexual abuse. Last year, Quetzal helped over 300 vulnerable victims heal and recover from their experiences. Due to Covid-19 this has halved due to people assuming the charity is not in action – this is far from the case.
Where do the donations go?
All charitable donations contribute towards a wide range of support for vulnerable women aged 16+ in the Leicester and Rutland area. Providing them with free counselling and covering the training costs for all the counsellors involved.
The charity provides free counselling for people recovering from childhood sexual trauma. They currently have three types of counselling: There is face to face counselling, telephone counselling and online counselling. These can be long term, short term, multiple sessions or single sessions.
Who are NCS?
NCS is a youth program that runs across the country that aims to unite, engage and empower young people. Our aim is to tackle big problems in our society through the power of young people.
The main components that we thrive to achieve on NCS are connecting with new people and making a difference, this is why we are working with Quetzal to achieve something amazing.
We are Team 1 from NCS and we have chosen to raise money for Quetzal as we really believe their cause is something to be known.
