As some of you may know, this charity is already close to my heart. In 2015 I raised for this charity in memory of Kathryn Swain who lost her battle to bile duct cancer. I am now raising money in memory of a very close friend, the extraordinary Lena Burns. Lena sadly passed away very suddenly with the same cancer, in March 2021. To say it was a shock to all who knew her, is an understatement. Lena was strong, determined and caring, yet her life was cut short.
Lena was a character to say the least! She had many stories to share, a shoulder to lean on, and a welcoming home. Wherever she was, she would have a huge smile on her face; she could lift the spirit of any room. She was the definition of living life to the full. She was unique, quirky and a little bit crazy... but normal is boring, right?!
A dentist, a trapeze artist, a devoted mum- and not just to her two beautiful daughters.
Lena, we love you- Burns Salute, until the bitter end.

My aim this year is to complete a deconstructed Iron Man- basically I will complete all three aspects of an Iron Man event, but over a week. This will include:
1- The York Marathon
2- Cycle 180km- I will complete this using zwift on my turbo- both a physical and a mental challenge
3- Swim 4km
After an injury from running, I am very much back to starting over, so this really will be a challenge for me!
This will be in October, but, in the mean time, I am also holding a bikeathon hosted by Inspired Personal Training in June. This will be from sunrise to sunset. The aim is to have a continual ride, in which friends and family join in, to add to the distance.
I want to help raise awareness of this cancer. AMMF is a fantastic charity that dedicates ALL its time to cholangiocarcinoma research, aiming to find earlier diagnosis, and information.
