Story
I didn't send out before the ride as I badly injured my knee earlier this year and wanted to make sure I didn't ask under false pretences ;-)
This was the 21st annual ride and my 15th. I made it most of the way, slowly but surely :-)
On my first ride, (Lands End to John O'Groats) we were raising money to provide support to over 40,000 kids across the UK. 20 years later, the number of children looked after by the state exceeds 100,000 . Become is a small but very hard hitting charity that needs every penny we can raise for them. If you can't donate, please read about the work that Become does and tell your friends.
This ride was 200 miles over 4 days between the spectacular cathedral cities of Durham and York to raise vital funds for children in care and young care leavers. As the cost of living sky rockets, Become are deeply concerned about the impact for care-experienced young people, many who are living independently at age 18, some as young as 16. Your donation will help to fund Become's direct services, including their Care Advice helpline available to help young people with any issues they're facing, including financial struggle, concerns about their mental health, or how to navigate the care system. You'll also be helping Become campaign with young people for systemic change to the care system, until every young person receives the understanding, love, and support they deserve.Thank you!Learn more about Become's work and the impact of your donation on their website, designed BY young people FOR young people: www.becomecharity.org.uk
