Story
We are a team of fundraisers from the PwC PS teams in Newcastle and Leeds and we are taking part in the Greath North Run to raise funds for Water Aid so that they can keep supplying clean water to the world's poorest communities.
WaterAid is an international non-governmental organisation focused exclusively on improving poor people’s access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation. WaterAid works in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region and campaigns globally to realise a vision of a world where everyone has access to these basic human needs.
To get an idea of how important WaterAid's work is, think about the numbers:
- 783 million people in the world live without access to safe water
- 2.5 billion people live without sanitation
- Around 2000 children die every day from diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation
Please help us to work towards a world where everyone can have access to clean, safe water.
Just £15 can give the life changing gift of clean water to one person. See what else your donation could provide:
- £12 can buy two taps for a village waterpoint.
- £20 can buy 25 metres of pipe.
- £46 can buy a family toilet.
- £50 can buy a handpump.
- £60 can buy a rainwater collection jar.
- £100 can buy a handpump to serve 10 households in Nepal.
- £225 can buy the cement for a 40ft deep hand-dug well in Ghana.
- £500 can buy the materials needed for a reservoir tank to serve 600 people in Madagascar.
- £1000 can cover the complete costs of building a 15metre well, including a £500 Nira handpump to benefit 500 people in Tanzania
- £1500 can cover the costs of a mason and drilling supervisor to work on 125 tube wells benefiting over 30,000 people in Uganda.
So please, dig deep and help us hit our target!
