Story
Holding court at El Mercado South's Backstage venue, the Purgatory Players Gospel Brunch has formed a peace-loving army of local songsters who turn midday Sundays into a musical, community event. Through the primitive ritual of passing a tip jar, the Purgatory Player’s benevolent, breakfast taco-munching, mimosa-sipping audience have provided well over 400,000 meals to Central Texans in need via the very efficient tendrils of the Central Texas Food Bank.
The Central Texas Food Bank serves over 46,000 people every week - many of their clients are children - and still is unable to meet the need by 30%. Help us continue to fight hunger and donate today. Every $1 donated provides 4 meals.
A grave outcome of COVID-19 is that many of our neighbors in central Texas have been affected by outages and work stoppages, leading their families to struggle with financial pressures and food insecurity. The Central Texas Food Bank has changed their distribution model to emergency food boxes only, distributing food in drive-through settings to keep staff, volunteers, and clients safe.
The most important way to help right now is to donate if you can.
During the 8th annual Gospel Turkey your donations surpassed our goal by a lot, so we are continuing this fundraiser as a way for more folks to donate online when attending (or playing) a show is not possible. Please donate if you can to fight hunger in these extraordinary times. Every donation matters and every dollar helps! Feel free to share this link with your friends and family!
