Story
In September 2021 our amazing dad was diagnosed with stage 3b lung cancer and a treatment plan was put in place.
Our dad wanted to fight with everything he had. Always remaining positive and doing everything that was asked of him. It was a struggle for him with highs and lows but after several rounds of chemotherapy the news was not good. It had not worked and the cancer had grown.
He began radiotherapy but right at the end of his treatment he lost his battle and on 20th February 2022 our world was devastated.
He always spoke so highly of the Macmillan nurses and the care they gave him was first class. During uncertain times they provided comfort and support and did whatever they could to aid his recovery.
Our dad loved being outdoors. Spending hours upon hours mowing the lawns, litter picking in many of the neighbouring villages and going for long walks. He also liked a challenge. In the summer of 2018 at the age of 70 along with his middle daughter Tanya, he competed in the Summer Fan Dance. This was a 24km march up Pen Y Fan which is a grueling test used for SAS selection and failed by many. He was the oldest competitor to have competed.
He was also a generous and caring man. Alongside our mother they have spent many years raising funds to supply Christmas presents for under privileged children. He would always help anyone out however he could and had done so throughout his life.
Myself, Tanya, Natasha and her husband George would like to raise money for Macmillan in his memory and taking part in the 26 mile Jurassic Mighty Hike would be an appropriate way of honouring him. He would be proud of us like we were of him.
We miss you dad. You were our hero. x
