Matthew's pumpkin appeal

pumpkin appeal · 28 October 2017
Last year I grew some giant pumpkins that made it into the Hereford Times at page22. I then resolved myself to grow another and find a way to use it to raise money and also go for gold, the front page!
One year on and I have a record pumpkin, weighing in at 70kg. It will be in Hereford hightown on saturday 28th of October where anyone will be able to have a selfie taken with it, sit the little ones on for a halloween picture or just donate for spinal research where there will be somebody to collect for the charity.
Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research. Because of the efforts of our supporters, we have funded innovative medical research that has achieved a number of ground breaking changes in the field.
