Story

All Partick Thistle fans who were lucky enough to enjoy the great teams of the 1990s owe a great debt to captain Don McVicar. He led us to some of our greatest victories, moments and memories only to leave us too soon at the hands of MND. Supporters of St Johnstone and other clubs he played for will share those sentiments.

On Sunday 31 January 2021 it will be 15 years to the day since Don's passing. This is our chance to give a little back in his memory and ensure his legacy lives on.

How can you help?

1. Join the Glasgow team at www.doddieaid.com (or any team you wish)

2. Exercise - run, cycle, walk, whatever - on Sunday 31 January in tribute to Don

3. Donate to this page

If 100 fans donate £10 each we'll send £1000 into MND research and that could just make the difference.

Like Don's story touched our world, Doddie's story has touched the rugby world. To fearlessly face down his diagnosis and raise £7 million in 3 years for MND research has been mind blowing. And to have done it with smile never far from his lips, and humour punctuating every call to action, Doddie does inspire. #DoddieAID is a way for us all to do our little bit to help him in his quest to find better treatments for this awful condition, and Doddie being Doddie, we hope it is going to be a lot of fun.Doddie AID is an Inter-District exercise challenge running through January until the Calcutta Cup KO. Any exercise counts, and your miles can be logged into your personal total on the trac4good app. And it also goes into your District team total. Come the 6th February 2021, we will see which District has logged the most miles. Though there are a few other criteria to the competition too, such as Conversions! See www.doddieAID.com for all the details and to join in.
