The Lamandau River Wildlife Reserve is a 760km² area of protected peat swamp forest in Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. It is also an orangutan release site with more than 160 orangutans who have been given a chance of living wild once more.
The Orangutan Foundation operates an Orangutan Release Programme which incorporates a veterinary health care component. The establishment of a network of guard posts around the Reserve's border and our work with local village communities to promote the conservation and sustainable management of these forests are key to ensuring that the growing orangutan population remains healthy and viable.
For donations of £50 or more we’ll be delighted to send a pdf certificate acknowledging your donation. Please help us raise £15,000 - these orangutans deserve a life in the forest and the forests deserve to have orangutans in them.
