Story
At the end of this month, I am running one and a half marathons in a week - the Sheffield Half Marathon and the London Virtual Marathon - in support of an amazing charity, based here in Dore, Sheffield, but supporting children and families that have been affected by acquired brain injury from all over the country.
The Eden Dora Trust was set up in 2014 when its founder, Petrina's daughter contracted encephalitis and nearly lost her life. Luckily, she survived but was left with an Acquired Brain Injury that continues to affect her. Petrina had never heard of encephalitis, but soon realised how common it was, and that anyone can get it at any time from a simple virus. Petrina and her family's life changed forever on that day. She didn't want any other family to go through what they went through, scared, alone, lost and confused.
Since the charity started they've helped so many families all over the UK, supporting them through diagnosis, rehabilitation, advice, research, awareness raising, workshops, study days and loads more. Now more than ever, they need our help. Their ability to fundraise has been slashed due to covid-19 restrictions, however families need more support than ever before. Without funds Eden Dora Trust will not be able to continue supporting the children and families that rely on them. We could really do with your help.
