Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Mark Dunne's JustGiving page.
Mark passed away peacefully in his sleep on 18th December 2021.
Mark's death was a terrible shock to everyone who knew him as he had an infectious zest for life, and crammed more into his sixty years on this planet than many ever could.
Mark loved to chat with everyone he met; he made friends easily and helped other people whenever he could. Mark touched the lives of everyone who met him, the cheeky smile and mischievous glint in his eye are remembered by all. His family meant the world to him, and he doted on his three daughters, Maija, Anya and Orla-Mae. They could not have had a better Dad. He was tremendous fun to be around, and I personally am thankful for all the wonderful precious times we spent together, partners-in-life, whatever life threw our way.
At work, Mark was a well-respected, award-winning internationally recognised scientist who published more than 120 research papers. More importantly to him, his research had positive effects on the lives of babies, children and families around the world living with the rare disease congenital hyperinsulinism. He dedicated his life to advancing research into this rare condition, inspiring, supporting and encouraging many young doctors and scientists along the way too.
It seems fitting for his memorial to support research and education into the disease which constituted his life work. Rather than send flowers to the funeral, please donate to this worthy cause.
