CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER AFTER A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE IN ECUADOR

Story

The Standard Chartered Great City Race is a unique
annual corporate running challenge which takes place around the closed off streets of the City of London. Companies from the Insurance, Banking, Accountancy, Legal and Media sectors take part.

Whilst the event aims to raise funds and awareness for the official race beneficiary Seeing is Believing, Probitas 1492 would also like to use the opportunity to raise funds for the Ecuador Earthquake Appeal via Unicef UK.

A huge earthquake struck Ecuador on 16 April, killing 660
people and injuring over 4,600. As the largest disaster in the region since Haiti in 2010, the earthquake has directly affected 250,000 children. Around 33,000 people are still living in temporary shelters.

More than 560 schools were affected, leaving thousands upon
thousands of children out of school. Homes, health centres and water systems were destroyed or damaged.

When a disaster like the Ecuador earthquake strikes, Unicef
staff are ready to respond rapidly to deliver life-saving food, medicine and water, education and protection services so children in danger get the help they need.
