Medecins Sans Frontieres is an international charity that provides much needed medical services to people in most need of them, whether in war zones or areas torn apart by disease or natural disaster. Their highly trained professionals could easily be doing saner jobs in their home town hospitals. Instead they put their own necks on the line to help others. That deserves support.

Incidentally, the name "Medecins Sans Frontieres" might not be familiar to you. It goes under different names in different countries. You might know them as Doctors Without Borders, Médicos Sin Fronteras, Ärzte ohne Grenzen and ВРАЧИ БЕЗ ГРАНИЦ.

Just three people have ever walked around the Earth, covering a distance in excess of the equator. I plan to be the fourth, starting on 1st April 2022, but I want to do it differently, in a way that involves people. But enough about me. Because my walk involves people and is as international as a walk can be, I've chosen to support an international charity that helps people. The length of the Earth's equator is 24,901 miles (40,075 km) and so I've set my target at £24,901. This walk will take me several years to complete, and so hopefully in that time we can do Medecins Sans Frontieres proud.
