Fundraising for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity
On 24th November 2017, our lives changed forever when our beautiful baby daughter, Primrose Margaret, was stillborn at 6 ½ months pregnant.
SANDS has supported Oli and I every step of the way along this journey- from the dedicated bereavement room on the maternity ward, to the online forum allowing parents at all stages of grief to support each other and find strength, to the local groups. West Berkshire SANDS in particular has been incredible in helping me to find the words to express the inexplicable pain of losing a baby.
SANDS also funds research to reduce the number or babies who die every day in the UK. Currently it is 15 babies a day, and this is unacceptable. SANDS’s vision is to aim to reduce the number of babies dying by at least 20% by 2020, and in order to help fund this research, and to support the many other good things this awesome charity does, I shall be taking my trainers out of retirement.
On Sunday April 8th, Lydia Dakin (Primrose's godmother) and I will be running the Salisbury 10 (miles I would like to stress, not kms!!) in memory of Primrose and in support of SANDS. Any sponsorship, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated and will make facing the hill runs in Salisbury that bit more bearable!
