BMW Berlin Marathon 2019 · 29 September 2019 ·
In September the Primett brothers and Mr J Chowney will tackle the Berlin Marathon in aid of raising money for Orchid.
Orchid is a charity that we have had a personal link to for nearly 10 years. Having seen the work they do first hand and support they provide, we have challenged ourselves to run the Berlin Marathon and raise as much money as we can as a way of giving back.
Orchid exists to save men's lives from testicular, prostate and penis cancers through pioneering research and promoting awareness. Men traditionally don't open up and talk about various issues and like with any cancer, early diagnosis is key. So the more awareness we can raise the better.
Please do check out Orchid's website for more information - https://orchid-cancer.org.uk/
Training has been well underway and already it is taking prisoners which is at least showing the dedication that we are putting towards the run.
Mark "Yoyo" Primett has been flirting the thin boundary of unconventional training methods and complete nonsense by throwing caution to the wind of actually "building up mileage" and running random 13 milers for fun having not run more than 5km previously. Unfortunately, it is unconventional for a reason and he is sidelined with shinsplints.
Chris "did you know I'm an Ironman" Primett's transition from rowing to road running has been as smooth as his chat on Tinder - rocky to say the least. After some warm weather recovery time in Spain after also falling victim to shinsplints and the classic runner's knee, he is hopeful of spending more time in his trainer's than his two sizes too small swim trunks.
Jonny "All the gear .... " Chowney' signed up for the marathon at 4am in a nightclub in Slovenia and its clear this hangover is lingering as the miles increase. Luckily he has avoided injury so far and training is progressing. One thing is for sure his instagram will be on point come the end of the 26.2 miles.
Andrew “Garmin” Primett is usually found at the bar discussing his Strava stats, hoping to score himself a free beer. Having continued to build on his strong foundation from hitting a PB at the Paris marathon earlier this year he is aiming to go sub three hours in Berlin. Fed up of suffering from middle-child syndrome and not to miss out on the sympathy, he has diagnosed himself with plantar fasciitis. Having completed his first 50 mile training week of the campaign, he now needs to tread the line carefully between pushing himself to a PB or A&E.
We will provide some updates as we go along to prove we are training or at least nursing ourselves to the start line.
We massively appreciate the support and any donations however big or small give us a huge boost!
Thanks from us all!
