Story
When thinking of a way to honour the life someone so special to everyone who knew him, I struggled to find something suitable or even close to representing the person, the amazing person the Amit was. He was a devoted father, a loving husband, a caring son, an admired brother, a loyal friend, an inspirational colleague, and a cousin who always made me smile. His childish humour and stupid jokes were annoyingly funny. He never stopped acting the clown, yet was able to help everyone around him with such natural ease.
Then my friend Manish mentioned he wanted to trek to Everest Base Camp for charity. The decision was made.
I've never run, trekked, climbed, or done any serious exercise, sport or training in my adult life. But, I am determined to trek to the base camp of the world's tallest mountain to raise money for Amit's chosen charity - Brainstrust. Please take time to look them up, as they do amazing work for patients and families affected by brain tumours.
I will be heading off to Everest in February 2012 and need to raise £5000+ before then.
On 10 February 2012 I am travelling to Nepal with 3 friends to trek to Everest Base Camp on the Khumbu Glacier and climb Kala Pattar.
Everest is the world’s highest mountain standing at 8848 metres and I will be climbing to 5545 metres.
The trek should take roughly 13 days with approximately 8 hours of trekking and climbing a day.
