Story

The Prattville YMCA Leader’s Club is an opportunity for 6th– 12th graders to find community among their peers while serving in YMCA programming and throughout the community at large. Leader’s Club participants have the opportunity to grow in Spirit, Mind, and Body (the three sides of the YMCA’s triangle emblem) as they work, study, and play together throughout the school year. Team Leader’s Club is made of three of the adult Advisors for the Leader’s Club – Will Barrett, Gene Sedgwick, and Aric Lobenstein – who work (together with our beautiful wives, Jennifer, Jessica, and Emily) with those teens in an effort to instill a strong sense of servant leadership, as modeled for us by Christ, in the leaders of tomorrow. We support the Coach-A-Child Campaign and participate in Sink-A-Palooza every year because we believe that none of the programs of the Prattville YMCA should be inaccessible to members of our community – and especially not due to financial insecurity. We believe in the YMCA’s mission statement “to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy Spirit, Mind, and Body for all” and we want to do our part to ensure that ALL have the opportunity to benefit from that mission focus.

In addition to their efforts in and around the Prattville YMCA:

  • Will is very well-known around Prattville, in part for lending his talents as the play-by-play voice of the Prattville Lions football team for the past 14 seasons and as the host of The Preferred Experience podcast. He also chairs the Prattville Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee, and teaches Sunday School and serves as a deacon in his church. Will is also a civil engineer with Civil Southeast Engineering Group and has served Prattville professionally for over 10 years. Together with his wife, Jennifer, Will has two beautiful children, ages 13 and 6 years. Jennifer is the Human Resources Director for the YMCA.
  • Gene is also well-known around Prattville as he has been stomping these grounds for over 40 years. Gene owns and operates Supreme Greens Turf Management Professionals, LLC and has four children (2 boys; 2 girls) that keep him and his wife, Jessica, very busy. Gene also teaches Sunday School and currently serves as a deacon in his church. Jessica is the Gymnastics Director for the YMCA.
  • Aric and his wife, Emily, have two children who are entering the 8th and 6th grades. He spends his free time chasing after the two of them constantly, whether coaching baseball or soccer, being the loudest fan on the sidelines of whatever activities they are doing, or helping to lead the Cheer Squad Booster Club. Aric owns and operates Bill’s Bookkeeping Services, LLC, which provides business administrative and management consulting services to small businesses. Emily is a Substitute Teacher with Autauga County Schools, serves on the Board of Managers at the YMCA, and serves on the Board of Directors for Leadership Autauga County.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support! After you’ve made your donation, please be sure to share this worthy cause with your friends and family and let them know that this is something deserving of their support and contribution as well!

Sincerely,
Will, Gene, and Aric
