National 3 Peak Challenge · 25 August 2018
On 25th and 26th August 2018 a team from DAF Trucks UK and the Netherlands will be scaling the three highest peaks in the UK, otherwise known as the National Three Peak Challenge. This consists of a total walking distance of 23 miles with an ascent of 3,064 metres all in
24 hours - weather permitting!!
We will be raising monies for two charities, the Leyland Trucks Helping Hands and Stichting Ambulance Wens.
The Leyland Trucks Helping Hands Charity distributes monies to a variety of causes which all have a personal connection to the Leyland based workforce. In 2017 Helping Hands donated to charities such as the Rosemere Cancer foundation, St Catherine’s Hospice, Derian House Children’s Hospice, North West Air Ambulance and 26 other causes including the support of a guide dog training programme.
Stichting Ambulance Wens consists of a group of 270 medically trained volunteers who fulfill last wishes of immobile terminal patients by providing specially developed ambulances. Our DAF colleagues Rudy Bressers and Anne Bressers have made use of their services. Rudy Bressers: “My daughter and I have fulfilled the last wish of her mother and my wife Heidi, a journey to our beloved Ehrwald in Austria. A unique experience, a beautiful memory that is engraved in our memory forever. Therefore, my daughter and I will complete the ‘Three peak challenge’ together for the Stichting Ambulance Wens. Hopefully we will collect a lot of sponsorship with this challenge so that other terminal
patients can have the same last unique experience as we had.
Your contributions are greatly appreciated and will ensure these two great charities to continue their support to people and communities for many years to come.
