We are the Powsers Mountaineering Club based in Glossop on the edge of the Peak District. Every year we conduct a Charity Walk to support a local or national charity.
This year we are again supporting Mummy's Star, a worthy local charity and the only one in the UK and Ireland dedicated to supporting women and their families diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy, or within twelve months of giving birth.
We are undertaking the Morecambe Cross Bay Walk from Arnside to Grange-over-Sands on 30th April 2023. The historic route has been in use since the 1500s. It crosses the bay at low tide, negotiating rivers and shifting sand banks under the supervision of an official guide.
Mummy's Star was founded in 2013 by Pete Wallroth. His wife was diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy and sadly died two months after giving birth to their second child.
Can you imagine what it must be like for women and their families to be faced with some of the distressing decisions and traumas these circumstances cause? For example, do you proceed with cancer treatment whilst pregnant, or delay until after the birth?
Mummy's Star enables families to meet up with others in a similar position, offers grants to relieve some of the financial burden, gives support to partners and wider family, promotes awareness and supports research.
Your donation will help Mummy's Star to maintain the excellent support they provide during pregnancy and beyond for women diagnosed with cancer and their families.
We are extremely proud to support the vital work of Mummy's Star again this year.
We hope you can help by giving to this exceptional cause.
Thank you!
