My name is Tony, I am 87, and I've lived in the picturesque Dorset village of Chideock with my darling wide Pam since 2002. We were married in 1974...
Pam passed away at a Weldmar Hospice in Dorchester in March, following a four year battle with cancer. She was given such wonderful care there for over nine weeks, which gave us both time and space to enjoy her last weeks. I was able to be her husband again, not just a carer.
Weldmar Hospicecare’s Family Support team are still looking after me now, it has been such a difficult time.
Poetry allows me to express myself in a way that I can’t do if
I’m just talking to someone. I can talk about my feelings and thoughts,
and it it gives me so much freedom.
I plan to record all of my 300+ poems to share on YouTube, it has been difficult to learn how to do this but it's worth it and I want to reach out to others who might be inisolation , suffering from grief, or lonely too. Poetry is so good for the heart and soul, and if I can show others that it may work for them too, that's just brillliant.
