Cystic Fibrosis explained:
Cystic Fibrosis Trust is a National Charity which raises funds to allow research into the disease together with providing support and information for patients and families.
CF is an inherited disease caused by a faulty gene. There is currently no cure.
Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common life-shortening inherited diseases that affects over 9,000 young people. CF makes the body produce thick, sticky mucus that clogs the body’s vital organs leading to chronic lung disease and malnutrition. Only half those living with CF can expect to live into their 40’s. There is presently no cure.
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is already doing tremendous work in providing clinical care for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers throughout the UK, and of course is working very hard to find a cure for this life-threatening genetic disease.
