Having seen several photographers around the UK shooting Doorstep Portraits to provide families with a way to document their time in lockdown I thought that I could use this as a way to raise funds for a charity that I carry close to my heart.
The Mariposa Trust, (which is more widely known by its primary support division name - sayinggoodbye.org), provides comprehensive support, information and advice to anyone who has suffered the loss of a baby, at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in infancy. The charity also fervently campaigns and works alongside the government to make lasting change in the care that is offered to the bereaved.
Losing a baby at any time is heart-shattering, but add in the current pandemic to the mix, and that makes the loss an even more isolating experience and these families need your support!
The Annual Fundraiser for the organisation was meant to be held at the end of March but was postponed due to the pandemic. Therefore the charity needs to raise funds via different means to support these families. All other vital fundraisers such as marathons and sporting events have also been postponed, so I felt compelled to help fundraise during these exceptional times, and hope you want to help just as much as me.
The minimum donation is £30 (if you can afford more, please give generously). The visit should be short (5-10 minutes max) and will be pre-booked within a 2-hour window to allow families to prepare and dress up a little if they would like to! If you are outside of these postcodes (B13, B14, B30, B29, B17, B15, B16, B5), please contact me before donating so that we can see about arranging several families in your area to make the best use of my time.
I will be standing 2+ meters away and will share with you one digital image after for you to keep this moment in history. Family/ Flatmates/ Couples/Singles/Pets - everyone is welcome to have a portrait! I will also be sharing the images on social media to help further the campaign!
Ideally, people’s sessions would be clustered together by neighbourhoods. Hence, please share this with local friends to allow me to utilise my travel time and capture as many households as possible.
