Poppy's People are taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge!
2020 was a year of ups and downs for everybody, for a very special family the exciting news that they were expecting twins came as quite a shock. The surprises didn't stop when the beautiful baby girls decided to make a dramatically early appearance. Poppy and Daisy were born at 28 weeks, which meant they were entirely reliant on the incredible care of the NICU at Basildon hospital. The medical care and emotional support they provided was second to none. Heartbreakingly, Poppy passed away after 18 days of being in the world. As you can imagine, this was an impossibly sad time for Poppy's family, meanwhile they had to remain strong for Daisy. Thanks to the care of the NICU team, we are thrilled to report that Daisy is thriving! In Poppy's memory we are setting out on a challenge to raise money to support the NICU and make sure they're able to care for all the babies that need them.
To raise these funds, a group of school friends are aiming to complete the 3 Peaks Challenge on 7th August 2021. We are quite literally stepping out of our comfort zone to take part in this 23 mile hike, thats a whopping 52000 steps each! As a group we have been friends for 18 years (adding that up made us feel old!) and typically the most walking we do is to the pub or a bottomless brunch (even then we favour a cab!). We are working hard to build up our stamina to make sure we can do these baby girls proud.
All donations big or small are truly appreciated. Please share with your friends and loved ones to help us reach our target and support an amazing, life saving cause.
Sincerest Thanks, Lauren, Ellis, Beaux, Kerri, Lisa, Hannah, and Sophia. (Poppy's People)
