Story
My name is Poppy and I am 9 years old. I am part of Girlguiding UK and am working towards my Charities Brownie badge.
For my badge, I am raising money for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, in memory of my Grandma who recently passed away. I am going to take part in ‘Swim the Distance’ and am going to swim 1 mile by the end of the summer holidays!
I am blind and also use a wheelchair to get about, so the swim isn’t going to be easy but I am determined to complete it.
I would be very grateful if you would sponsor me please, so that Roy Castle can continue their research into finding lung cancer early and saving people.
Day 1: 12 lengths down, 53 to go!
Day 2: 14 more lengths done, we’re almost at the halfway point!
Day 3: 14 more lengths done, we are now past the half way point! Only 25 more lengths to go!
Day 4: 16 more lengths done, only 9 left to go!! Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me so far!
Day 5: absolutely smashed it today!! 20 lengths!! 1 mile officially completed and an extra 11 lengths to spare, because…why not?
Day 6: 30 lengths! 24 more lengths and we've done 2 miles!
Day 7: she did it - 24 lengths complete, we hit the 2 mile mark!
