Story
About a year ago, our world was turned upside down when my dad sadly lost a very short battle with cancer.
We'd been on a hastily organised, doggy friendly, family trip to Norfolk for the Jubilee weekend at the beginning of June.
Thus ensued a few rounds of mini golf, an evening of a tantrum filled quiz night, a dodgy Indian takeaway and plenty of sand in our shoes.
We returned home and dad was complaining of a pain in his back.
Over the next 3 weeks, some scans and biopsies later, dad was deteriorating and struggling to breathe.
We rushed him into hospital where he was admitted to ITU and passed away peacefully 4 days later surrounded by his family (and a special visit from Coco our dog a day earlier).
It was after his passing we received a phone call from the oncologist looking after dad with a surprising revelation.
The biopsy results had shown a high grade B cell lymphoma, suspected to be an aggressive subtype of a double/triple hit lymphoma.
Unfortunately this had progressed so rapidly that he didn't show any symptoms until it had invaded multiple organs by the time it was diagnosed, and at this point dad was too weak to be able to tolerate any treatment options.
Throughout his life he fulfilled his duty as a son, brother and a father, and lived to provide for his family.
There was never a dull moment as he'd constantly be cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. He was a huge foodie and loved to travel, however it was the simple pleasures he relished the most - particularly spending time with his family.
Sadly he didn't get to enjoy his retirement.
With your support we're hoping to raise money for Lymphoma Action to aid research into early diagnosis and treatment for the rarer subtypes so that other families can have a happier ending.
