Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
My name is Simon Johnson and I work for Polymermedics, a medical device manufacturer in St Austell. Every year my company uses its staff for a day to do charitable work, and this year we have been given the opportunity to use the days individually for a charity of our choice.
Both Adam Baker and I have chosen Bristol Children’s Hospital’s charity “The Grand Appeal” as ours. Personally I have close ties with this charity due to the lifesaving work they have done for my niece Kaya (8). Who was born prematurely with her skull not fully formed Known as "Aplasia Cutis Congenita", and now enjoys a great quality of life. Evie (6) is a little girl in Adams son's class, BCH diagnosed her with a brain aneurysm in February 2016, and was treated very quickly where she had platinum coils to fill the aneurysm to prevent it from rupture, giving potentially life saving treatment to this little girl.
We hope you will help us raise funds for this amazing charity, as it does incredible things for children everyday.
The event we will be holding is a sponsored Golf Marathon @ Porthpean golf club, 8 teams of 2 players playing alternate shots for 12 hours solid. Without the use of buggies, entrants will have to walk 13.5 miles across the 12 hour period, carrying or pulling their bags up hill down dale!!! Other methods of raising funds on the day will include a longest drive and nearest the pin competition, @ £2 a go for anybody who is playing on the course on the day, even if they are not taking part in the marathon. There will be an evening event so we can do a Raffle and Auction of generously donated prizes. Also we are looking for local companies to sponsor a Hole or one of the competitions to raise more money.
So please take the time to donate what you can afford. Thank you in advance Simon and Adam
