Story
"A Grandad holds his Granddaughters hand for a while, and her heart for a life time".
As some of you may know, at the beginning of December last year we lost our beloved, adored Grandad, Roy. He was my best friend and the heart of our family.
His life was cut short due to an undiagnosed illness called COPD. Chronic obstructive pulmanory disease (COPD) is a lung disease characterised by chronic obstruction of lung airflow that interferes with normal breathing and is not fully reversible.
This disease was missed for over 2 years with my Grandad, and 3 months before he passed away it was finally diagnosed, at this time it was too late to save him.
I for one had never heard of the disease until now. Awareness is not extensive, and in memory of our strong, loving and caring Grandad I will be raising money to contribute to the research into lung diseases by the British Lung Foundation.
I will be running 5.5 miles across the Humber Bridge and around that area on Saturday 14th April 2018.
I have never ran this far in my LIFE and although it's nearly March I am still recovering from a very heavy Christmas!!!!
This will be an immense challenge for me and I think anyone in advance who is willing to sponsor me and help me reach my target to help towards research and awareness of COPD.
Thank you so much!!!!
