Swimathon 2018 · 27 April 2018 to 29 April 2018 ·

A challenge for everyone. A swim for all. In its 30 year history, Swimathon has raised over £48million for its charity partners – help us hit £50million in 2018!

Story

Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie are teaming up and heading down to the pool for Swimathon 2018 – thousands of swimmers, two great causes, one big charity challenge.

I'm going to swim 5K on both the 28th and 29th April 2018 to raise money for Cancer Research and Marie Curie.

Most people reading this will have been directly or know someone who has been affected by cancer, whether that's a family member, friend or colleague. Since I signed up, I have learnt that my my friend Erin, who I trained with in swimming for many years has been diagnosed with breast cancer aged just 26 years old. Coincidentally we trained together every Wednesday at Glenogle pool, where I'll be doing the challenge on Saturday 28th April. Her husband, Dad and other friends are also doing the challenge on Sunday 29th in Kirckaldy and I have decided to join them so will be doing two 5km swims over two days. If I can raise some money to make even a tiny bit of difference then that's fantastic, and I would so appreciate your support!

Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, will be involved in Swimathon for the first time.

Marie Curie, the UK’s leading charity for people with any terminal illness and their families, has been Swimathon's charity partner ten times since it launched in 1986 and has raised over £17 million for the charity through the event during that time.

Thank you,

Polly
