I am trekking to Everest Base Camp as part of a summer of fundraising for Alzheimer's Research UK. My sister and I are completing the trek to raise awareness for this debilitating disease and hopefully a few pennies too. 3 years ago having been an incredibly independent, fit and healthy 70 year old our Mum was diagnosed with dementia. With no cure we feel fairly helpless  and this is one way we can help. Alzheimer's is a cruel, debilitating disease that will impact on more and more families until a cure can be developed.
