Story
In May I will be running 10km around Regents Park dressed as a superhero to raise money for Orangutan Appeal UK.
Anyone who knows me knows that, until recently, I have always hated running. I hated running for the bus, never mind actually running for fun?! When I started my training in January, I could run for 5 minutes without stopping. I am hoping to run my 10km in an hour. That’s a 1200% increase in my running ability. So this 10km is a serious challenge for me.
But every step will be worth it because this charity is totally amazing. I was lucky enough to spend two months in Borneo last year looking after orphaned orangutans and the experience is by far the best thing I have ever done. I fell even more in love with them once I got to hold them, watch them so close up and got to know their little personalities. They are the most incredible creatures, and I can’t bear the fact that their numbers are so quickly diminishing due to deforestation. Orangutan Appeal UK works with Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre to help care and protect the little ginger babies that I looked after and I would love to smash my £100 target.
