Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am riding in the Police Unity Tour 2014 from The Mall in London to the National Memorial Arboretum in Lichfield. The ride takes place between 18th July and 20th July, covers about 170 miles and coincides with the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) Memorial Weekend at the Arboretum.
On 5th March 2010 my 25 year old partner Dan Gibb, a Police Constable with the Metropolitan Police Territorial Support Group, left our flat to attend an early morning briefing at work. He was riding his beloved motorcycle and on route to work a people carrier type car pulled out of a side road into his path. Dan was killed instantly and my world fell apart.
In the early days of my grief I was introduced to the charity COPS which supports the families of Police Officers killed on duty. This charity along with my friends and family has helped me survive the death of my partner, rebuild my shattered life and enabled me to find happiness once again.
The importance COPS was brought home to me once again on 5th November 2012 when my good friend Adele Cashman died on duty whilst chasing two lads who had just stolen a lady's mobile phone. She was a 30 year old Detective Constable and an all round fantastic person.
Both Dan and Adele would find it hilarious that I have managed to get myself signed up to this ride as I am not known for my sporting prowess and I am honoured to be doing this in their memory. Please spare some change to support a Charity which cares for families during the worst time of their lives and helps them make the best they can out of a horrendous situation.
