Hello everyone,

My husband Stefano will embark on an amazing journey at the end of thismonth, joining the Clipper Around The World Crew in their breath-taking anddemanding race around the world.

This is one of thebiggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other.

It’s a recordbreaking 40,000 nautical mile race around the world on 70-foot ocean racingyachts. Divided into eight legs and 14 to 16 individual races, Stefano willcompete in leg 3, from Cape Town (South Africa) to Albany (Australia) whichamounts to 5575 nautical miles and in leg 7, from Seattle, down to the PanamaCanal and up to New York for a solid 7117 nautical miles, totalling a whooping12692 nautical miles…that’s right!!!!!!

Stefano and I wish  ‘the race of his life’ to benefit the life ofmany children in need, by dedicating his supreme and unparalleled challenge toPluto, a robotic surgery procedure run by the Children’s Hospital Trust Fundfor the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.

Here’sone of the compelling surgeries successfully carried out by Pluto at theChelsea and Westminster Hopsital:

Forthe last two years, nine year old Joe has been ill with an obstructedkidney.  His condition seriously affected his day to day life; he had tostop swimming, playing football and various other activities and also misseddays and days from school.

Thissummer Joe underwent surgery to repair the blockage.  Paediatric surgeonsat Chelsea Children’s Hospital decided to use their surgical robotic system,Pluto, to carry out the procedure. 

MsMarie-Klaire Farrugia, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, said “We were delightedwith the results.  Joe has three small scars, required no morphine duringor after the procedure and recovered quicker than he would have done usingconventional surgical techniques”.

Joe’smother, Vicky, said: “Since surgery he is a different child and is now backplaying for Ruislip Rangers and doing better than Chelsea FC!  He hasnever been better, no more sickness and his sense of humour is better thanever”.

Joeis a big fan of robots and he asked Dr Farrugia if his favourite robot OptimusPrime would be carrying out the operation with her.  The only downside ofJoe’s surgery was that his favourite superhero pants went missing duringsurgery, which he still reminds his mother about!

“Without all the nurses anddoctors and of course Pluto, Joe would still be seriously ill and unable to dothe things he loves the most”said Vicky.

Stefanoand I would like to raise £12,692..that’sright…one pound for every one nautical mile sailed! Please please..make thishappen!!!!!
