Story
My name's Ben Hammond and since 2010 I’ve been dancing marathons, up mountains and busting some not particularly good moves with thousands of others. With their support I’ve managed to dance record-breaking distances and durations – all the while sporting my trusty neon yellow tutu.
The last decade-and-a-bit has seen me dance the London Marathon, dance 72 hours through the Glastonbury Festival, dance to the top of Snowdon, dance the world's longest dance by time (5 days, 15 hours), dance across Britain from John o'Groats to Land's End, and dance 750 miles along Route 66 through California, Arizona and the Mojave desert in the peak of summer.
I use dance as a symbol of the freedom so many of us enjoy but which is still actively and purposefully denied to millions around the world through acts of modern-day slavery, such as forced labour, human trafficking, child slavery or descent-based slavery. It's just not fair that people's lives and dreams are caged in this way, enabling others to cruelly profit from their exploitation. I believe everyone should have the right to live a life free from servitude, to determine their own future and to create and follow their own dreams, just as I am lucky enough to be able to do. This is why each of my dancing challenges supports the essential work of Anti-Slavery International.
So please do help motivate my moves as I continue to shuffle my way in full public view along the streets, lanes and sidewalks of the world by giving whatever you can.
Many thanks.
Ben
