Story
Bill Baxter, Joe Baxter, Steve Taylor and Guy Madgwick are the "Pitton Plodders" and are now training to run the Salisbury 1/2 marathon (21km) on Sunday 1st October, which will be challenging as the most we have run up to now is 10km!
We are running to raise money for the Young Epilepsy charity. Bill’s youngest granddaughter is Phoebe; when Phoebe was just 4 weeks old she suffered from 100 seizures a day, not long after she was diagnosed with infantile spasms and Ohtahara syndrome. OS is a rare life limiting genetic condition. It's a progressive disorder of which children suffer severe developmental delay, cognitive disabilities and physical disabilities. The condition causes them to suffer from infantile spasms which is a rare form of epilepsy and accounts for only 0.2% of all epilepsy cases. The syndrome also means that Phoebe needs 24/7 care to watch her seizures & provide her with rescue medication. She has poor cognitive development and feeding problems because of her syndrome. She is also extremely physically delayed, she is currently that of a 3 months old baby at the age of 13 months. Phoebe takes several medications, several times a day which controls the seizures to an extent but she will never be seizure free.
