Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday the 28th April, I will be taking part in the LONDON MARATHON, my biggest personal challenge to date! I will be running a whopping 26.2 miles around London and whilst I am doing this to reach my own personal goals, I am also raising money for a charity that is close to my heart - the Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA) charity.

A young girl from my class, has DBA and is currently at home recovering from a bone marrow transplant. I am hoping that the money I raise will support people like her and the charity help find ways to treat this rare blood disease.

Running a marathon feels brave, but it is nothing compared to what this brave little girl endures on daily basis. She always has a smile on her face and I hope I will have enough energy to smile as I cross the finish line!

What a tough cookie she is :)

Here’s her story:
Hello, my name is Amie Rose. I am 8 years old and live with the rare blood disorder, Diamond Blackfan Anemia. I am recording a daily vlog to raise awareness and money for other children with my illness.

From August 30th 2018, I will spend 8 weeks in the hospital in an isolated ward. I will be receiving a bone marrow transplant so that I can stop the need to have so many blood transfusions. I have already had 110 so far in my life.

My wish is to raise awareness and money for other children that suffer from DBA. I will uncover what it is like to be in the hospital through my transplant and tell my story here. I would absolutely love if you would watch my videos and say hello. I will feel like I have the world by my side when I am the isolated ward I must remain in.
