Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 29th July 2015 one of my oldest friends Boo Van der Noot, lost her battle with depression and committed suicide aged just 23. She battled with depression on and off for six years and showed such strength but tragically in the end, it was just too much for her. Boo was the most bubbly, fun loving and mischievous person I knew - there was never a dull moment with Boo. Which makes it even more hard to beleive. She was also one of the kindest, most thoughtful friends, with an unfortgettable laugh, she was truly beautiful inside and out.
It has been a long 8 months for all who knew her and in particular her amazing mother Sarah. So on Friday 3rd June, along with some of Boo's family and friends, I will be cycling about 115 miles from London to Aldeburgh - Boo's favourite place in the world!
We are taking on this challenge to raise awareness of depression, to encourage people to talk about it, understand it and be able to properly support those who suffer from it. So we are cycling under the 'banner' 'Depression Must Not Be a TaBOO' and to raise funds for the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust who work tirelessly to train professionals to recognise symptoms of depression. Their vision is "of a world where people understand and talk openly about depression, where young people know how to maintain well-being, and where the most appropriate treatment is available to everyone who needs it".
You may remember, I cycled about 65 miles from London to outskirts of Ipswich last October but it took about 12 hours and I walked up all the hills. This time I am cycling almost 50 miles further, in less time and won't be able to walk up the hills. So this is much more of a challenge for me and have already started to train for this. The money you help raise will spur me on and ultimatly help depression not to be a taBOO!
