Story
In June 2013 I am heading off with Raleigh International to join them as a volunteer expedition medic in Sabah, North Borneo. I will be spending 8 weeks in the jungle in what will be for me a medical, physical and mental challange.
Raleigh International is working in Borneo on projects that involve the environment, the local population, sustainability and wildlife. Raleigh is a youth and education charity taking 17-24 year old 'venturers' out to remote places who then work on the local projects helping to devlop new skills, friendships and teamwork. They particularly encourage young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to take part, and has a programme for volunteers from the host country as well.
All volunteers and venturers are required to make a donation to Raleigh International as part of the challange ; this is not part of my personal costs which I am funding myself.
As well as setting up this page I am organizing a number of fundraising events locally to help raise the money. I have run 2 cakes stalls during the surgery flu clinics with the help of my girls, I am doing a tandem sky dive from 12,000 feet and planning a 20mile walk with backpack in the Brecons!
I promise to bore you all with tall tales and photos on my return...
Thank you for your generosity!
