Story
Hi my name is Meera. My team Pink Power and AIM High are uniting with Living Beyond Breast Cancer to support people diagnosed with breast cancer at our own special yoga event on May 21st at 9 AM at Aim High Studio (3015 W Germantown Pike, Norristown). LBBC is very important to me and has been a part of my life since I was 6 years old. Every year, my family and I have tried to take part in the now retired event Yoga on the Steps. It will be twelve years since I first practiced on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum, with my Mom and thousands of others. Last year AIM high and my team successfully hosted a similar event last year and we have decided to do it again to spread awareness for LBBC. I have personal stories of loved ones who battled cancer in my life. My grandmother on my Dad’s side had lymphoma and passed away young. My other grandmother on my Mom’s side is a breast cancer survivor. This cause is really important to me personally and I wanted to show that by raising funds to support breast cancer patients and survivors. Pink Power was created in an effort to spread awareness amongst people my age. Teens can be impacted by this deadly disease in their adult life and my team would help recognize that. Mrs. Aimee Sala and her team at AIM High have kindly offered the use of her facilities for our event this year. Together we would like for as many people as possible to join us, it is a free class so anyone can join. We do suggest raising a minimum of 20 dollars if possible. If this is not possible, you can also show your support by contributing to the team whatever you can. Through the power of yoga, we can reach out and raise funds to ensure that anyone diagnosed with breast cancer has access to trusted information and a community of support. No one should face breast cancer alone. Everyone should have reliable information to make the best decisions for themselves. I look forward to our event together!
