Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Jake’s Grandmother Suzy who was also a Grandmother to me died at the end of April this year after a short and incredibly painful fight against cancer. The Royal Marsden an incredible hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education were amazing when they came to our rescue at the end of March when they offered Suzy radiotherapy to relieve her from the agony she was suffering as the cancer attacked her bones. Suzy had a joy for life that was infectious and this was prominent during her stay with The Royal Marsden as she made everyone around her laugh despite of the inevitable deterioration of her memory, sadly leaving her more and more confused as the cancer took over every cell in her body. Despite all the radiotherapy Suzy suffered beyond what anyone could imagine and unfortunately, the time came, faster than we could think where we missed her bubbly personality as the drugs made her less and less coherent. Suzy’s final wish was to go to rest at the Royal Trinity Hospice where she had spent time prior to treatment at The Royal Marsden. Suzy made the most of every minute including going viral and has been seen by millions of people all around the world:

We shared many happy moments before the ferocious cancer took her from us. These good times and hilarious moments will stick with us forever.
As a result of the love and care that Suzy received from The Royal Marsden, Jake and I felt that we should give back and help others with
cancer and in need of this care. I have never loved running and so running a half marathon was always going to be challenging, it is hard to believe the progress that we have made so far. Our training schedule (https://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/sites/default/files/RFL_Half%20Marathon%2012w%20Intermediate%20Training%20Plan_0.pdf)
is tough and as we commence on week 8, we must run two 8km runs and one 16km run we must also exercise at the gym and keep this up to complete the 12-week training plan.
