Story
Thank you very much for visiting my fundraising page.
Piers Pollard, (who has a 25 year old son with Down’s Syndrome, Ben)
is doing the Capital to Coast Bike Ride, on Sunday 15th July. The money is being raised for all the 4 charities equally:- i.e. Norwood Ravenswood, (One of the UK’s leading children and family services charities); The Down’s Syndrome Association; The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, (The UK’s only national charity dedicated to all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis) and Southern FM’s children’s charity, ‘Help a Local Child’, (helping disadvantaged children).
This is a 60 mile sponsored bike ride, from
Esher
College to
Hove , which is just a little more than my bike journey to work!. The route is very scenic, (reputedly one of the best Charity Bike rides in the UK
!), but there are a lot of hills to ride up, including Devil's Dyke, just when you are really exhausted!
This is the 8th year that I have done this Bike Ride, having completed the Half Ride (Handcross to Hove ), including 4 times with my son Ben on a tandem. Unfortunately, Ben will be still at a Residential Mencap College when the Bike Ride takes place this year, so I am doing the full 60 miles on my normal bike!
Ben has developed into a very active young man, who loves life and is learning to be independent. He particularly enjoys any kind of sport, including swimming, and football, in particular, as well as disco-dancing and cycling on his own bike, where he leaves me trailing far behind!
Please dig deep and sponsor me online to help all these very deserving charities.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Capital to Coast will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
