Independent Age UK is a charity founded over 150 years ago offering advice and support for people in old age. They operate throughout the UK and provide advice and support across a number of areas including money, housing, health, personal life, support and care and future planning. 

They provide free information and advice for older people and their families on care and support, money and benefits and health and mobility, along with friendship services to relieve loneliness. They also use the knowledge and insight gained from our frontline services to challenge poor care and campaign for a fair deal for older people – a reasonable standard of living, fair access to information and an opportunity to contribute to their communities.

Although the London marathon is the focus of this fundraising effort, it is 1/3rd of the fun I will be having on the roads and trails around the south of England over September and October. On 12th September, I navigated my way around the Brighton Marathon, an amazing feeling to be back in a mass participation event after the last year and a half. A couple of weeks after London, all being well, I will also take to the South Downs way to tackle the 103km (or so) of the Yellowhammer Challenge. Hopefully the 42km or so around London will provide a helpful training run ahead of that adventure!
