Story
Hello!
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Phoebe, I am a 22 year old Interior Architecture and Design student working in London! It is safe to say that sport has never come naturally to me… but for the last few months I have been trying to get into running. When I started I could just about manage 1km before having to stop (yes, I was that unfit), but through hard work and determination I feel like I am ready to take on a massive challenge: A Half Marathon! My friend Ben and I will be running together to support this brilliant charity! I am incredibly nervous, but also so excited to see how far I have come in the last few months.
Originally I just wanted to improve my fitness, but I have to admit that I have now caught the running bug and I want to use this to the advantage of a fantastic charity.
We will be running for the Whitley Fund for Nature, a charity that gives funding, training and recognition to local conservation leaders working in resource-poor, biodiversity-rich countries. They offer grants to enable conservationists to scale up their vital work and make a real and measurable difference to wildlife and local communities. What I love about WFN is that their grants go directly to existing conservation leaders in developing countries, cutting out the middle man, and giving those who know the most about their local wildlife, the community and resources they need to make an impact. Over their 25 years they have worked with 200 local conservationists, in 80 different countries around the developing world!
Wildlife and our physical and social impact on the planet have always been areas of importance and interest to me so pushing myself to the limit somehow feels easier knowing I'm doing it for a great reason!
We would be so grateful for any sponsorship no matter how big or small. Your support will not only encourage us to power through kilometer by kilometer, hill by hill; but more importantly will help environmentalists around the world make a difference with wildlife in their local communities!
Wish us luck! THANK YOU!
Love from Phoebe and Ben!!
