Story
I love the Rainbow Ramble. I do it with my family every year and although I whinge a little bit at times because it takes a long time, I really enjoy it.
This year they've had to cancel it because of the virus so they are asking everyone to do their own walk or challenge on Saturday 9th May 2020.
I've been pretty bored in lockdown but over the last 7 weeks (that's how long we've been shielding) I've spent quite a bit of time outside and I have learnt to ride my bike!!! Well, its actually Stan's old bike and its far too small for me but I love it. I still need stabilisers but until now my legs have never really been strong enough to make the pedals go round and I didn't like the feeling of being off balance.
But I've been brave and mastered it and can actually go quite fast now (which makes Mum worry). I love being free! Last year I walked a mile so I thought this year that I would use my new skill and ride for a whole mile. Dad said I can borrow his watch so I can track how far I've gone.
I know a mile doesn't sound a lot but for me its a really big deal. It takes a lot of effort for me to use my legs for that long and its a long time to concentrate and stay balanced. But that is true of most things for children like me, everything takes longer to learn and is much harder work.
I would love it if you could sponsor me. It will keep me motivated knowing that my cycling is raising money to help children at Rainbow Hub.
Thank you for reading my story.
