After being in the care of Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH) for over six months, I am running to raise money that will help continue the outstanding work that is carried out every single day of every single hour at BCH.
The staff of BCH made me feel welcome and comforted on one of the most daunting days of my life. I was admitted to BCH in July 2012 after my eating disorder spiralled out of control. This resulted in me being too weak to undergo daily activities, which are simplistic to teens my age.
Anorexia Nervosa is a seriously life threatening mental health condition where individuals have a distorted image of their body being 'bigger than it actually is'. An eating disorder life this is defined both mentally and physically. This is due to the physical effects malnutrition has on the body as well as behaviours shown.
Without the support and perseverance of all the staff at Birmingham Children's Hospital I would not be where I am today, which is healthy, pleaded and determined to live life to its optimal potential.
Now, it's my turn to give something back to this fabulous organisation who have children and young people's best interest at hearts along with offering support and guidance for their families. This is why I will be running the Birmingham Half Marathon, with the hopeful intention of raising as much as possible- so please give generously!
