Story
Family, Friends, Colleagues and those that don’t know me but relate to my story.
Doesn’t time fly? This is a saying that I have literally taken for granted over the years and now I’m faced with the situation where I’d love nothing more than to slow time down. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Kidney cancer in March 2017 and at 39 years old that was never part of my life plan. Living with Cancer leaves very little to the imagination as I’m sure you can understand. I have enough sad stories to fill this page 10 times over however that isn’t what I am about, nor do I want to take up your time with something that is outside of your control. I’d really love you to read this page with the power of knowing exactly what is inside of your control and as a result be part of making a difference.
The truth about life is that you never really know what you are about to come up against or deal with, unfortunately that’s just reality. What I do know is that out of even the saddest of situations positive things can happen and this is where you can absolutely make a difference. My favourite saying is that “You don’t have to be a doctor to save a life” because I have seen generous donations turned into life saving equipment, equipment I have personally benefited from.
This year I plan to do several fundraising events from getting on my bike and cycling 100k over the Chilterns on the 14th July 2019, to walking coastlines all for my favourite Charity called Scannappeal. I’m starting in May 2019 where myself and some of my truly loyal work colleagues will be walking the Jurassic Coastline to kickstart a memorable year of fundraising. I love Scannappeal because of the selfless work they do raising funds to purchase lifesaving equipment that the NHS doesn’t provide.
I’ve had some choices to make in my life and the biggest choice I’ve made is that I won’t be living with Cancer, Cancer will be living with me. So I ask you this question whether you know me or not.... Are you prepared to be a lifesaver?
Thank you so much for sharing this journey.
Keep believing
