I'd love your support for my biggest challenge yet: 7 marathons in 7 days, culminating in the 2024 TCS London Marathon, to support the MS Society. MS is an unpredictable and incurable condition that affects people's nervous systems. It can attack suddenly or progress steadily, bringing a range of symptoms which can include sight loss, incontinence, fatigue and mobility problems.
My mum, Ann Wiseman, has been living with progressive MS for many years. Despite now spending her time in a wheelchair, she does not let her illness get in the way of her hobbies, enjoys travelling and still joins us on the ski slopes in a sit-ski! Her 65th birthday is a few weeks before London 2024, so to celebrate I'm going to run 7 marathons in 7 days. I'll set off from Apperley, Gloucestershire where I grew up and she and my Dad still live, to Sutton in south west London, where she grew up. The finale is the famous 26.2 mile route from Greenwich Park to the Mall. The route will take in the Cotswolds, the North Wessex Downs, Test Way, South Downs, the Hog's Back, the North Downs and much more. You can find the route here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1hzThmzfLFRItkFw3iMaAPR2PDZrfca4&usp=sharing
ANYONE IS WELCOME TO JOIN ALONG THE WAY! Just know that I may not speak much, and might not be able to go very fast.
This is going to be difficult. Although I'm no stranger to ultra endurance, getting up to run a marathon seven days in a row is a whole new level. It's going to take six months of specific training, learning to run long, day after day after day. As an extra incentive for you to part with some pennies, I'll wear a costume of your choice if you're the highest donor in a given month!
No-one with MS can be sure when or how it will affect them next. The MS Society fund vital research into the causes of MS and possible treatments. They provide a helpline service, answering the calls of those looking for advice and support. They believe that together, we are strong enough to stop MS.
