Story
Hi,
As I'm sure you know, when I ended up buying BRMB last year with my good friends at LDC, we planned to bring back all the best things about BRMB from its illustrious past.
Top of the list as voted for by our listeners was the Walkathon - which we were delighted to endorse.
So, we're doing it again - the whole 26 miles round the Birmigham Outer Circle bus route, on June 6th, in order to build "A home for the Brave" at Birmingham's brand new QE hospital - to support our troops as they begin their recovery there. It's a truly wonderful cause I'm sure you'll agree, and you can check out more about the cause by visiting our website, www.brmb.co.uk
Jean (Mrs Riley) was marketing Manager at BRMB when we first launched the walkathon in 1983 - so I am getting plenty of advice on how to organise it over dinner most nights! It's on June 6th, and we are hoping for 10,000 walkers to take part.
I can't do it on the day - as I will be busy supervising! so instead I am doing a pre-walk, with a small number of colleagues from the station, on May 9th. We'll be doing the whole thing, all 26 miles, just without all of the infrasructure, stop points, loo's, food stations, signs and general party atmosphere.
Despite that I am determined to do it in a decent time - and am in the thick of training.
I'd like to post £1,000 as my donation, so anything you could give me to support that goal would be fantastic - and the guys at justgiving will do the rest.
