Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Jumping out of a plane is not something I'd considered until very recently. I've travelled a fair bit but generally prefer the view from the inside of an aircraft. There are undoubtedly easier and I'm sure less risky ways to raise money and awareness for a charitable cause, but sometimes it's good to stretch yourself and try something a little different...I think...

I came into contact with the Hospice of St. Francis at a time when my mother was very ill. Sadly, she passed away in 2018, and though it was a difficult time for everyone, the care provided by the Hospice was truly exceptional and made such a difference. It also really opened my eyes to the breadth of support such a wonderful organisation can offer.

The difficulty is that in most cases, charities receive little or no public funding and it's largely left to the generosity of people like you to keep things going. To give you an idea of the difference a donation can make, here are a few examples:

  • £10 could pay for half an hour of telephone counselling for a grieving husband and dad who has lost his precious wife.
  • £25 could pay for a complementary therapy session for a person we're caring for helping relaxation, easing pain and improving sleep.
  • £40 could pay for an activity morning such as a pony day or craft session to help a child who's lost their mum, build special memories and coping tactics.
  • £50 could pay for a community nurse home visit to provide reassurance and advice to an elderly lady who wants to remain at home.

Thanks again for visiting my page. If you are able to make a donation - it's really appreciated. In return I'll try my best to say thank you with a smile on my face as I'm hurtling towards the ground at about 120mph!

If you do make a donation, can I request that you publish your name and not leave it anonymous? My employer will match any donations made as long as the name of the contributor is visible.
